Dioulassoba is a monumental sculpture from the Bolibana Collection, composed of eleven stacked ovoid forms rising in a tiered pyramid on two curved feet, evoking the pinnacles of Sudano-Sahelian mosque architecture. Handcrafted from reclaimed oil barrels in Hamed Ouattara's studio in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, its name refers to the historic Dioulassoba neighborhood of Bobo-Dioulasso, a living memory of Sahelian trade routes, ancestral architecture, and West African cultural exchange. The work is held in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum, New York (accession no. 2023.66), where it was featured in the exhibition Breaking the Mold.
