Biography

Hamed Ouattara is a multidisciplinary artist and designer born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. A self-taught creator, he is known for his powerful and stripped-down aesthetic, deeply rooted in spirituality, history, and vernacular architecture. Through his
sculptural furniture and visual artworks, he explores the tension between function, form, and material memory.

His work has been exhibited internationally and is part of major public collections including the Vitra Design
Museum (Germany), the Brooklyn Museum (USA), the Centre Pompidou (France), and the Denver Art Museum
(USA). He is represented by Friedman Benda gallery in New York.

Based between Ouagadougou and Atlanta, his studio SHO develops a singular approach to design where functional art, sculptural form, and African contemporary identity converge.
